PHLP Annouces Co-Executive Directors: Danna Casserly and Erin Guay
On behalf of the Pennsylvania Health Law Project (PHLP) Board of Directors, I am very pleased to announce the Board’s decision to appoint Danna Casserly and Erin Guay as PHLP’s new Co-Executive Directors.
Having celebrated PHLP’s 30th anniversary last year, we are excited for Danna and Erin to lead the organization into its next era. Danna and Erin have served as Acting Co-Executive Directors since March 2023, after PHLP’s previous Executive Director, Laval Miller-Wilson, left to join the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
Erin and Danna are both longtime PHLPers with a demonstrated commitment to serving PHLP’s clients and advancing the organization's mission. Erin joined the organization as a paralegal in 2004, and Danna joined as a staff attorney in 2013. Their combined decades-long service to PHLP and its clients has allowed them to serve in multiple roles and develop expertise in multiple aspects of the Medicaid system — experiences that will serve them well as PHLP’s new leaders.
Over the last year, Danna and Erin have shown excellent leadership of PHLP and have demonstrated the benefits of their collaborative leadership model for our statewide organization. Our decision to appoint them as PHLP’s continuing leaders was also informed by our confirmation that they have the collective support of staff and other partners and stakeholders. The Board looks forward with confidence to the future Danna and Erin will build together for the organization.
Both Erin and Danna are eager to begin this next stage. “We are honored and excited for the opportunity to continue leading PHLP and are incredibly grateful for the support of the Board and staff during this transition. We look forward to building on PHLP’s accomplishments over its thirty-plus year history and exploring new ways to enhance client services, support our committed and passionate staff, and advance PHLP’s mission. Our leadership model emphasizes transparency, collaboration, and partnership. We look forward to doing great things together.”
Kindest regards,
Mark Anderson,
PHLP Board President
